Okay, that's a lie. My friend Katie took me to a store that sells peanut butter, and I purchased 2 containers of it!!!!
That is seriously the highlight of my day. Honest. :D
-Shadowing [really? was that today? feels like it was 10 days ago!]
-Tacos!?
-Class [test! Ahhh!!!!]
-dinner mix up
-O Peanut Butter, how I love thee
-Hanging out with friends/youtube party
This is gonna be a quickie, guys. lol
Today was the final day of shadowing, which meant waking up entirely too early for humanity. Especially here. Everyone wakes up SUPER late here... so yea, I fit right in. ;)
The hospital was great! Only 2 of us showed up [as opposed to the 4 on previous days], but it was alright, because we got to shadow with some awesome doctors! :). They were all so nice and concerned with how much we were learning and everything. I was very glad to shadow them again. I feel like they are so personable, even though I don't know enough spanish to carry on a conversation, hahaha.
After shadowing, my friend Lauren and I went to a restaurant across the street from the hospital. I had the most glorious salmon tacos with avocado. I dont know if it's that I am missing home or what, but I have never appreciated a taco more than today. If I would have known how delicious it would taste, I would have visited Mexico instead. Just kidding. Argentina is awesome! <3 :D
Side note: Lauren and I left the hospital a bit early to study for our exam, but instead went to lunch. While we were in the restaurant [which has a HUGE picture window... with us sitting almost directly in front] the head doctor that we had been following walked riiiight past us! It was so darn nerve wrecking and funny. I don't know what I would have done if he had noticed us! I felt pretty horrible about leaving early after seeing him, but I really did need to study for my test.
Today was our test! I didn't do so well, but I passed! Onto the next .... section... of a level.... :/ Blegh.
I made a 72, which isn't too bad considering I was learning the grammar [my weakness] for the first time, when a few students have learned it another time. I had a really strong listening and oral portion, but I don't write very well, which is a bummer. I'm still trying my hardest though, so I'll get it soon. Hopefully. :)
After class I told a group of my friends that we should/could go get tacos at the same restaurant... but when we got there, we realized that it was not in any of our budgets! We opted for pizza instead. Again with the pizza. My friend, Katie, ordered a large Fuzzagetta pizza or something. Hahaha. There was very little crust/dough, with a layer of cheese about 1 inch thick... and onions on top.
I was not digging it as much as I thought I would.
Right after we ordered dinner, Katie showed me a local health foods store, where they sold peanut butter! I was SO overjoyed. Really, it seems like everyone in Argentina eats steak, pastries and drinks coffee, and that's all. Peanut butter is only sold at select stores, and it's very different from the peanut butter in the US. It's kind of grey in color, and a lot less thick.... but it's peanut butter!
Wahooooo!!!! I can't wait to eat PB&Js to my heart's content! :)
This was merely the beginning of a nice night!
We ended up going back to Katie's apartment and just hanging out. We talked and looked at youtube videos... Sadly, for a moment or two... I felt like I was actually back at home. Really. I think it was the youtube vids that did it. It was a really nice friday night. :)
P.S.: the owner of the ipod did contact me. I will be seeing if they can supply me any information about the ipod before giving it back to them. I hope I will have good Karma for a while! :)
